The collection documents the early origins of the Biophysical Society, its growth in membership as well as committees and areas of interest, and its work in promoting both education and research in the field of biophysics. Materials include correspondence, legal documents, constitutions and by-laws, meeting minutes, budget and financial reports, administrative files, conference programs and catalogs, presentation and research abstracts, membership directories, publication files, copies of the Society's newsletter, and committee and sub-group files. One series is dedicated to interaction with two affiliated professional organizations, the Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology (FASEB) and the International Union of Pure and Applied Biophysics (IUPAB).
